Public Classes

Astanga:
Jill is a dedicated Astanga practitioner and teaches in the style of  Sri K. Patthabhi Jois of Mysore, India.  Her lead classes are a detailed exploration of the system of ashtanga, it’s asanas, breath (ujai and pranayama), bandhas,  and philosophy.  Open to all levels, Jill lovingly leads you through what is a rigorous practice, paying close attention to each student.  Her commitment to the joy and practice of yoga is a delight, and she infuses her classes with a unique blend of wisdom from many ancient traditions.  The end of every class includes a beautiful meditation with the sonically healing crystal chakra bowls.  You will leave her classes feeling fulfilled, nourished and refreshed 

 

 
Vinyasa Flow:
This class utilizes the Astanga vinyasa system of linking breath and body movements into a more creative blend of asanas.  This practice will support your astanga practice if you have one, as well as provide strength, flexibility, purification of body and mind, and deep relaxation.  Each class is a bit different, and all classes end with a healing relaxation, accompanied by the magical crystal chakra bowls.


Intro to Yoga & Meditation:
Jill supports those wanting to explore yoga and meditation through a series of introductory classes offered at special times of the year. All classes are offered in a loving and safe environment, with personal attention to each student, supporting each student’s intention.

Yoga is the joining together of the mind, body and breath, thereby bringing the awareness fully into the present moment, alleviating negativity, anxiety and fostering a sense of well-being and emotional equanimity.

Reduce stress, and the impact of stress on your body and your mind and your emotions, bring all the systems of the physical body and the energetic body back into alignment, feel great, look great, and tap your own innate wellspring of joy and well being, through the practice of yoga and meditation.  If you are in the least bit interested in yoga, you owe it to yourself to experience it!


Kid's Yoga:
As a single mother and an ex-corporate publishing executive, Jill experienced first hand the benefits of yoga, alleviating her own depression, anxiety, migraine headaches, arthritis in the hands, and lack of flexibility in the body.  Now she is committed to bringing the joy of yoga to children and families. 

For the past 10 years Jill has been working with children, and studying various techniques to foster a healthy mind, body and self-expression and self-management.

The benefits of Yoga for Children of all ages are well documented.  Children as young as preschool, through elementary and middle school, and students all the way up to high school are helped through their yoga practice to:

        Develop physical awareness, coordination and skills
        Enrich cognitive development and skills
        Enhance emotional intelligence and expression
        Develop focus, self-control, and self-confidence
        Reinforce positive social skills and interactions
        Soothe emotional and physiological stress and frustration

Jill holds several certifications for teaching children yoga, including being a Yoga Ed instructor and instructor trainer.  Her classes are infused with the acclaimed Yoga Ed teaching curriculum, developing our children’s awareness of their own bodies, minds and emotions, and fostering an understanding of how to begin to self-manage, self-care using the ancient techniques of yoga poses, games, projects, breathing, and creative visualizations.  Each class is limited to 8 students and provides lots of hands on specialized care for each child.

Cooperative games, theme activities, storytelling, music, and art engage the natural energy and enthusiasm of the 5, 6 and 7-year old child. Classes explore yoga poses, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques while conveying lessons in self-expression, body-awareness, social skills, positive thinking, and environmental awareness.
 

Private Classes
Jill is available for private sessions in varied disciplines:  yoga, meditation, Reiki and Sonic Healing. Create and experience a session or series of sessions designed just for you.  Please scroll down to read more, and if you're interested please contact her for questions.

Yoga:  Jill will guide you to determine your intentions for yourself, your own body, mind and spirit. With private yoga sessions, you can go deep into your own personal practice.  As a dedicated Astanga practitioner and teacher, Jill will lead you through understanding and developing your own practice of the primary series.  The primary series is known for as 'yoga chikitsa' or yoga healing.  Linking the breath and the body together moving through the prescribed series of poses will bring your body, mind and spirit to balance, strength and health.

Additionally, drawing from multiple disciplines, Jill will create a program tailored to your intentions, helping you move beyond barriers to promote optimal well-being, vitality and centeredness.

Meditation:  Jill's medicine name is "Sings to the Dawn."  She has studied with many meditation teachers from the US, including Native Americans, shamans and gurus from India.  She will help you find the right meditation practice that will enable you to tap into your calm quiet mind, your natural genius, and relieve so much stress!  Enjoy the peace and equanimity that meditation provides for your life. 

Reiki (an ancient art of healing energy work):  Jill is a Level 3 Reiki Master and provides private sessions to balance the chakras, and help heal the body and mind.  She also provides trainings to become a Reiki Master.

Sonic Healing with Crystal Bowls:   Experience the magic of the sonically healing crystal chakra bowls.  Chakras are energy centers in the body, interrelating to internal organs near them, to their corresponding emotions and emotional states.  Daily life experiences and normal stress can block the flow of energy, creating imbalance in the mind, body and spirit.  Jill will design a session or series of sessions to clear, balance and tune your chakras, bringing you to a state of innate bliss and healing. Based on the Tibetan singing bowls, which have been used for thousands of years, these are made of pure quartz crystal, and resonate at the same frequency as your cells.
